I do realize that this is kinda late, but better late than never (especially since I never thought I'd write about this experience).

Anyway, back on the 26th of March, I was SO lucky to get to go to Megacon while looking at this one college, especially since I hadn't been to a con in FIVE years! I cosplayed Sailor Saturn and my sister Haruhi Suzumiya.

Clickey the linkey please (we're #13)>>> [link]

We got there at about 9:30. The dealers' room didn't open 'til 10:00, so we walked around and took pics of people who also looked totally awesome (especially Black*Star). I couldn't believe how many people were there! I guess it was kinda a big deal since William Shatner was there, but I'm not a Trekkie, so I gravitated towards the anime side of the con. Once the dealers' room was officially open, we went in. I bought about $95 worth of anime stuff (including wall scrolls [though they gave me the wrong Ouran one...], an FMA backpack, xxxHolic pins, a Death the Kid plushie, and Ouran playing cards), took pics of more people, and we even got our own pics taken about four or five times! It felt awesome! :D

So anyway, we were doing all that for about one hour and then it was time to get down to business:

My primary motivation for going to this con in the first place was because a certain superawesome VA was gonna be there. Do I even have to say who it was? ...Okay, you win...VIC MIGNOGNA!!! Seriously, the guy is in so many of my fave animes (and does a FANTASTIC job in them, might I add) and his panels are always so funny! He seemed like such an awesome guy, so I had made it a life goal of mine to attend at least ONE of his panels one day! I am so grateful that he was coming to this one!

Okay, so at about 11:00, my sis and I headed over to the room the panel would be him (which was gonna be a basic Q&A with both him AND Colleen Clinkenbeard). The room didn't look as big as some others I've seen in videos are, but the max occupancy was about 540, so I'm sure the con people figured it'd be enough. When we got there, there had to have been about 20 people in the room watching some screening of Tora Dora (which I don't really care about) and we were more than lucky enough to get seats in the third row. I was kinda hoping for first row, but I guess I'm grateful since I actually GOT a seat to begin with. At 11:10, Jamie Marchi and Trina Nishimura showed up and started there own Q&A panel. I was SO excited when Jamie called on my to ask a question!!! XD They were both really fun to listen to!

(Go to 2:22. It's kinda hard to hear; I'm saying how much I love Sgt. Frog and asking if the second season or if any of the movies would be getting dubbed.) [link]

So about halfway through that panel as more people were starting to come in, Collen suddenly shows up and announces that she would be joining this panel so that Vic could have his own. Not that I cared either way, but it was kinda cool knowing that I'd actually be part of a true Vic solo panel now! As that panel commenced, I decided to try and get lucky and get called on again. Sure enough, Jamie picks me AGAIN (probably because I was being kind of a suck-up and saying how much I love their shows XP) and I then got to ask Colleen a question! I seriously now wish that I asked something better, but it was still cool!

(Go to 4:50.) [link]

Unfortunately, my sis, who isn't a big VA fan to begin with, left at about 11:50, so I was gonna be alone for the Vic panel, but I managed. When it was FINALLY noon, the room was PACKED. Not a chair was available and over three-fourths of the people there for the Vic panel were sitting on the floor or standing along the walls! So with a few minutes left with the Jamie/Trina/Colleen panel, the guy finally shows up and my inner fangirl (along with the inner fangirls and fanboys of several others) urged me to scream at the top of my lungs! It was SO exciting!!! The moment was finally there and the panel soon began!

As it started, I actually realized that I had an even better seat than those in the front row! Because there was this runway jetting out from the stage, Vic was on it more than the actual stage, so I literally had the best seat in the house (or room, or whatever)! So, if you've seen any of his panels, it basically started off with the usual schtick: he had his music CDs, he had his Gospel of John discs, he was gonna show some videos later, etc., but it was just awesome to watch it in person for once! Also, just because it's never EXACTLY the same as every con, it was funny and awesome in it's own special way.

So, ten minutes later, I literally could sense it: question time! Before he even says, "Let's take some questions," I just KNEW it was coming up. Before he even said he would, my hand shoots right up (as it had random times out of impulse). Seriously, there had to have been 400-500 something people in that room! The odds were seriously against me. Though I knew EXACTLY what to ask (and that it couldn't be something stupid AT ALL) and I knew before this con that the chances of getting picked to ask one of the 12-17 questions he'd be answering at this panel were slim to none. Like hell did that stop from trying though.

...

...I have NO clue what the hell happened at that moment though, but...something amazing did certainly happen...

...

...He called on me!!!!! FIRST even!!!!! :D

I couldn't believe it for a second!!! Luck was on my side for once!!! I was so happy!!! As hands began shooting up, I saw him walking near my side of the room and I could see him beginning to make eye contact with me! Then, he pointed his finger right towards MY direction where I was sitting and called me Sailor Awesome!!! (My cosplay must have stood out to him in some way.)

Even though it sounds really fangirly and stupid, I felt so special that moment and...the feeling is indescribable (sp?)! However, I was surprisingly calm about it and didn't faint or squeal too loudly believe it or not. I kept my composure and knew what I was gonna ask.

After getting over the very brief spurt of ecstasy, I stood right up (which I think kinda surprised him) and started up my camera. He jokingly said, "Oh no, she's videotaping! This is going to be embarrassing!" Of course, I told him it wasn't. So anyway, because I'm SUCH a great friend and all, I heeded the wish of my best friend and asked him to say hi to her. After asking him, he got everyone in the whole room to say it to her. Thank goodness that he then asked if I had a question! She'd be DEAD if that counted as my question!

So...I'm honestly a bit of a hypocrite for asking what I asked him. I HATE when people ask him and request the exact same things ALL the time! I seriously wish people would ask original things for once. However, this was something I really wanted to do for myself and I knew I wouldn't be able to get into the autograph line, so this was my only way of kinda getting a picture with him. I asked him (in a seriously high-pitched, fangirly voice) if we could do the coffee line from Ouran! He knew exactly what I was talking about, as did everyone else, who proceeded to scream at my request! It felt so cool!

I ended up having to ask some guy sitting in the same row as me to tape this for me with my still-recording camera. (I swear I can even hear a girl in the same row saying that this was what she was gonna ask. I'm sorry whoever you are!) I then carefully try getting around the people in my row and walk right up to the side of the stage.

...I was standing right next to Vic Mignogna! The ecstatic feeling then returned! It was only amplified when he put his arm around me! When he asked if I knew my line, I told him that I knew it VERY well and he laughed! So then after announcing that we were gonna do the line, a lot of people suddenly began recording. He did the three beeps and I did the girl's line. Then...he whispered right into my ear and did Tamaki's line!!!

<3

It was so funny though. He got halfway through the line and everyone already started screaming! So after he finished and I said, "Then I would drink it!", he yayed and I got a hug from him!!! :D We both ended up saying thank you to each other as I went back to my seat and retrieved my camera from the guy. I was so happy and then could enjoy the panel without worrying about getting called on! :D

Though many cliched questions were asked (including the mini-skirt line, which was asked RIGHT after I did the line with him no less), it was still a lot of fun! He was as cute and hysterical as ever and I FINALLY got to watch Fullmetal Fantasy, which was pretty awesome! He even performed Nothing I Won't Give LIVE for us! Overall, I now have a favorite Vic panel of all time. :)

Like I said, I sadly couldn't go into the autograph line (and I'm pretty sure he would've recognized me if I did). Unfortunately, my mom thinks autographs are stupid (I know, right?) and I had to be out of there as soon as the panel was over. But despite that, it was a freakishly awesome time and I really wanna go to another con asap! Preferably one that Vic's a guest at!

To whom it may concern: Objectifying gay men won't make you look cool, edgy or even less homophobic. I'm sorry fanboys and fangirls but I don't support treating sexualities as a fetish.
